The Pig on the Hill’s a family run pub that have built and designed the venue. With its unpretentious individual style, it’s a watering hole (and more) in its purest form.

We wanted to provide a comfortable escape from the bustle of Old Towns bar/nightlife, somewhere you can sit, relax and enjoy great company. With high definition plasma screens showing live key sporting events, it’ll be the number 1 venue to meet up with friends.

A lot of names were thrown into the hat, however after a lot of research around Swindon and it’s history, we kept coming back to how Swindon was once a Cattle Market, at the top of hill and, was made up predominantly of Pigs. The research continues to explain how the translation of the Anglo-Saxon word Swine Dun, is where the name Swindon is thought to derive.

However, the renovation and refurbishment of what is, a very iconic building, hasn’t gone unnoticed and the residents of Old Town have demonstrated their passion for the history and heritage of their local community. We feel the pub’s personality will fit perfectly amongst its local community, as we bring quality locally produced, home-cooked, British food on its doorstep. Plus, a bit of History to educate new comers to our hometown.
